Duke of York

Duke of York is one of the most charismatic yachts in the Maldives, often chosen not only for diving, but for its atmosphere, service, and attention to detail.

Built in 2010 in the traditional wooden style, Duke of York reflects the craftsmanship of local shipbuilders who ensured the highest standards of navigation and construction. Quality, comfort, and aesthetics are present in every detail: warm wooden interiors, parquet flooring inside, and teak decks create a sense of classic maritime luxury. The yacht was refurbished in 2022 and undergoes annual dry dock maintenance.

Measuring 36 by 11 meters, Duke of York features three decks. The upper open deck offers relaxation areas with sun loungers – perfect for sunbathing, watching the ocean, or simply enjoying evenings in the open air. Inside, a spacious salon with a bar, music, and an entertainment system easily transforms into a venue for gatherings, movie nights, or even dancing parties. Duke of York accommodates up to 22 guests in 11 spacious cabins (up to 26 with triple occupancy). Notably, there are no bunk beds, and each cabin features air conditioning and a private bathroom.

Duke of York is known for her sense of a non-standard, personalized experience. There are no fixed routes: itineraries can be tailored to guests, making each cruise truly unique. The Italian management team, with over 25 years of experience, are pioneers of Maldivian safari cruises, setting the tone for everything on board – from service and cuisine to the overall atmosphere – with Italian "Dolce vita" wibes.

Diving on Duke of York is a story of its own. The yacht is among the few in the Maldives designed from the outset with advanced capabilities in mind: complimentary Nitrox, full rebreather support and technical dives organizing – one of the only 2  Maldivian yachts offering this. All dives, as well as snorkeling and marine activities, are conducted from a dedicated dhoni boat. Underwater scooters are available on request. The team has experience not only in recreational trips but also in scientific expeditions commissioned by research institutes and government organizations. Duke of York’s contribution to ocean research has even been recognized in scientific publications.

Despite her strong focus on diving, Duke of York is also perfectly suited for non-divers. Snorkeling is available at nearly every stop, routes include more beaches and islands, and there is an onboard SPA area offering massages and Ayurvedic treatments. Non-divers enjoy a full-time alternative experience, rather than simply accompanying divers.

The cuisine onboard Duke of York deserves special mention as another standout feature. Guests are offered a blend of Italian, international, and Maldivian cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh fish and seafood, served as buffets or themed dinners. The crew excels at creating memorable experiences – from gastronomic evenings to festive dinners with local flair, décor, and souvenirs.

For those who prefer not to spend time going ashore, Duke of York also features a boutique offering traditional Maldivian souvenirs, gadgets, and, of course, T-shirts.

Guests of Maldivian Charter Club, including technical divers, have repeatedly chosen Duke of York and consistently return impressed – full of unforgettable experiences and positive emotions from both diving and life on board.

Duke of York is a yacht with character and history, an excellent reputation, and consistently high standards. She may be slightly above average in price, but it is a case where the value fully justifies the cost: here they truly know how to create exceptional safaris – for experienced divers, beginners, and those simply seeking a beautiful, comfortable journey through the Maldives with great food and a sense that everything is tailored just for you.

The yacht’s description is subject to change, so if any features or services are particularly important to you, please confirm them at the time of booking.
