Amba, built in 2004, is a true veteran of the Maldivian liveaboard scene – time-tested, impeccably maintained and renovated every year, and trusted by divers from around the world.
Amba is a 32-meter liveaboard designed specifically for experienced divers seeking safe, well-organised dive safaris in the Maldives. Constructed from solid tropical hardwood and combining German engineering with traditional Maldivian craftsmanship, the yacht accommodates up to 20 guests in spacious, air-conditioned cabins with private en-suite bathrooms.
Owned and personally operated by a German team with more than 25 years of liveaboard experience, Amba has earned an excellent reputation among divers throughout the world, and especially among German-speaking divers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The owners live on board and personally oversee each safari, ensuring exceptional service, meticulous organisation, and a strong focus on safety throughout every trip.
Amba is an LGBTQ+ friendly yacht that warmly welcomes guests from all backgrounds. With a spirit of openness, respect and inclusive hospitality, Amba offers a comfortable and welcoming environment where every guest can feel at home and enjoy their time on board.
The international crew of Amba speaks English, German, Italian, and Dhivehi, making communication easy for guests from around the world. Dive briefings are conducted in English, with German briefings available whenever required.
Diving operations onboard Amba are carried out from a spacious 18-meter dive dhoni, providing efficient entries and exits, freshwater showers, camera rinse tanks, and generous space for equipment preparation. The vessel is equipped with BAUER Pure Air-certified compressors, offers complimentary 32% Nitrox, and provides both 12L and 15L aluminium cylinders with DIN valves.
Safety is one of Amba's defining features. In addition to comprehensive emergency equipment, the yacht is equipped with the ENOS Diver Location System, allowing rapid localisation of divers who become separated from the group during drift dives.
Amba offers carefully planned itineraries covering the Central, Northern, and Deep South atolls of the Maldives, and she is appreciated by clients from the Maldivian Charter Club for prolonged, 10-13 night routes. Guests can expect encounters with manta rays, whale sharks, reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, and vibrant coral reefs while avoiding overcrowded dive sites whenever possible. Most itineraries include 2–3 dives per day and are designed for divers with at least 30 logged dives who are comfortable diving in moderate currents.
On board Amba, guests enjoy freshly prepared international, Asian, Maldivian, and Indian cuisine, including a wide selection of vegan dishes. Spacious sun decks, comfortable lounge areas, attentive service, and a relaxed atmosphere make Amba equally enjoyable above and below the water.
The yacht’s description is subject to change, so if any features or services are particularly important to you, please confirm them at the time of booking.
