Scubaspa Ying, like her sister yacht Scubaspa Yang occupy a category of their own among Maldivian liveaboards. While most safari yachts are designed almost exclusively around diving, Scubaspa Ying and Yang were created around a different and innovative idea.
The concept behind Scubaspa Ying was inspired by a couple whose different passions shaped a completely new approach to liveaboard holidays. A passionate diver and his physiotherapist wife, after spending their honeymoon in the Maldives, envisioned a yacht that would cater equally to dedicated divers and their non-diving companions. Rather than choosing between an active dive safari and a relaxing wellness retreat, they created a floating resort where world-class diving, professional spa treatments and shared experiences coexist. Launched in 2013, Scubaspa Ying became the first vessel to bring this concept to life, setting a new standard for liveaboard cruising in the Maldives.
Aboard Scubaspa Ying, guests enjoy an experience that combines world-class diving with an unusually high level of comfort. At 50 metres in length, she is among the largest and most spacious yachts operating in the Maldives. She accommodates up to 40 guests in a selection of spacious cabins and suites, all featuring private en-suite bathrooms, individually controlled air conditioning and elegant contemporary interiors. Public spaces feature expansive sun decks, stylish lounges and a bar, and generous outdoor areas. All these ensure that even on fully booked departures, the vessels never feel crowded.
Diving is at the heart of the Scubaspa Ying experience. The yacht offers access to the Maldives' most renowned dive sites, with up to four guided dives per day, including night dives on selected itineraries. A fully equipped dive boat accompanies the yacht, allowing guests to enjoy safe and efficient diving operations while keeping the main vessel a peaceful retreat for relaxation between underwater adventures.
The spa is an equally central part of the experience on board Scubaspa Ying. Covering approximately 300 square metres and staffed by professional therapists, it remains one of the largest and most sophisticated wellness facilities found on any dive yacht in the world. Sunrise yoga sessions, massages, wellness programmes and open-air treatment areas create an atmosphere more commonly associated with luxury resorts than liveaboards.
Guests of the Maldivian Charter Club often visited Scubaspa Ying; their reviews reveal a recurring theme: people remember the atmosphere as much as the diving. Many describe the crew as exceptionally warm and attentive, often recalling small details long after the trip has ended – a favourite coffee waiting before the first dive, a surprise beach dinner, homemade ice cream after an afternoon excursion, or cocktails served beneath a sky full of stars. Such moments appear repeatedly in reviews and help explain the yacht's unusually loyal following.
Food is another defining feature onboard Subaspa Ying. Dining aboard Scubaspa feels like part of the overall resort experience, with diverse international menus, themed dinners and memorable beach barbecues on remote sandbanks.
Scubaspa Ying is therefore best described as a luxury travel experience built around diving. For couples with different interests, honeymooners, wellness-minded travellers and divers who appreciate comfort as much as marine life, it remains one of the most distinctive and frequently praised yachts in the Maldives.
The yacht’s description is subject to change, so if any features or services are particularly important to you, please confirm them at the time of booking.
