Baani Event: Maldives Aims to Set Guinness World Record with 1,000 Snorkelers

A Historic Attempt to Break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Simultaneous Snorkeling with Mask and Tube in the Maldives

The Baa Atoll Council, in collaboration with Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), is preparing to host a historic Guinness World Record attempt — the largest simultaneous snorkeling event — on October 18, 2025.

This exciting project is named the “Baani Event,” and its goal is to bring together around 1,000 participants.

This flawlessly pristine sandy island is famous for its turquoise lagoon, vibrant coral reef, and diverse marine life.

The island’s western lagoon and coral reef are home to a bright and abundant marine fauna.

The “Baani Event” is not only a record-breaking attempt but also an opportunity to showcase the incredible marine environment of the Maldives, as well as to highlight the importance of responsible tourism and environmental conservation. The initiative emphasizes the need to protect vulnerable ecosystems and celebrates the communities and individuals who make tourism development in the Maldives possible.

Registration for participation in the “Baani Event” is now open. We invite participants and spectators to join this unique event and witness a spectacular display of coordination, community spirit, and ecological responsibility.
